It's because he's Black. (Take Two.)
It's been said before, and now Buchanan seeks to firmly establish the Republican reaction to Powell's decision to endorse Barack Obama: It's because he's black.
I'm at a bit off a loss as to why Powell should have taken so long to give his endorsement if that were the case as it's been clear that Obama is black for an awful long time now. Nevertheless, that's the line the Republicans are going to take. I wonder how offended Pat Buchanan would be if I said he was only supporting John McCain because he is white? Maybe then he would realise the insult that he is hurling.
Powell laid out his reasons for supporting Obama and they were solid. I suspect that's what Buchanan can't bear.
