The Logic of the Tea Baggers.

The logic of the tea baggers. It's 1939 Germany all over again. And he's claiming that because, as his sign states, of Obama's HR 3200 and equating that with Hitler's T4 programme.

And what was Hitler's T4 programme?

Action T4 (German: Aktion T4) was a program, also called Euthanasia Program, in Nazi Germany spanning October 1939 until August 1941, during which physicians killed 70,273 people specified in Hitler's secret memo of September 1, 1939 as suffering patients "judged incurably sick, by critical medical examination", but described in a denunciation of the program by Cardinal Galen as long-term inmates of mental asylums "who may appear incurable".
So they are now comparing Obama's attempt to provide health care for all Americans with Hitler's attempt to eradicate people with mental illness. That's about as deranged as it is possible to get.

And, when one bears in mind that this issue was a central one in the most recent election, and that a majority of Americans voted for this in that election, then one can only presume that these people think that a majority of their countrymen are either being duped or are secret Nazis.

But, remember, you shouldn't allow these minorities to influence the way you view the Republican party. Every party has their whack jobs, and the Democrats are no better than these fine patriots.

In college I read a book called "The Nazi Doctors", that was probably (at least partially) about this very program. I dont remember details, having read it 20 years ago, but I remember my horror at the practices carried out on some of the most vulnerable members of the German society.
Nothing in Obama's plan gives me those same feelings. However, there is a similar feeling given by proponents of maintaining the current system, or indeed any system which places profits above treatment.

I find it horrific that they can even make the comparison. It belittles everything which the people eliminated under the Nazis suffered.

But then there is something Leninist about the lengths that right wingers will go to. They will literally say and do anything, no matter how outrageous and no matter how untrue, if they think it will help their side or hinder their opponents.

I suppose their anger must be based on appalling ignorance, because none of them look particularly wealthy and yet, here they are, on the streets fighting against universal healthcare. I find it mind boggling.

The Rabid Right doesnt care about anyone else, just about victory or scorched earth. Look at how they twisted 9/11. As long as they horde their power and their money (however much that amount of each may be), everyone else can crawl off and die. For an organization that claims to be Christian at its roots, they exhibit almost no behavior that would qualify them as such.

Dave, it is a scorched Earth policy as you say. And the notion that these people are Christian is a joke. In reality, they would loathe Christ. They love the sentiments of the Old Testament, but the whole "turn the other cheek" business appals them. You know, what the rest of the planet recognises as the teachings of Christ....
