O'Reilly says Rove has a duty to be "honest" on Fox; Perino responds by touting $50M Rove raised for Republicans.

Perino avoids saying that she would feel comfortable campaigning for O'Donnell whilst reminding Fox viewers that Karl Rove has raised over $50 million for the Republican cause.

The tensions which the Tea Party movement is causing within Republican ranks is starting to creak it's way into the open.

White House on Appeasement Smear: Who, us?

The duplicity of this White House appears to know no bounds. Up pops that well known intellectual, Dana Perino, - she who has never heard of the Cuban Missile Crisis - to tell us that Obama is being big headed by assuming that Bush was talking about him when he made his outrageous remarks at Israel's Knesset:

Q:There’s some question about his comment here about “some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong” — you know the passage. And he talks about the “false comfort of appeasement.” This is being seen in some quarters as a slam on Senator Obama. Is this in any way directed at Senator Obama?

PERINO: It is not. And I would think that all of you who cover these issues and have for a long time have known that there are many who have suggested these types of negotiations with people that President Bush thinks we should not talk to. I understand when you’re running for office you sometimes think the world revolves around you — that is not always true and it is not true in this case.

Q: But, so, not aimed at him — do they include him?

PERINO: He’ll have to speak for himself as to what his policy is and you guys can know it well.
There's a problem with that defence, of course, and the problem is that Bush's staff went out of their way at the time to ensure that the press knew this was about Obama and others.
The president did not name Obama or any other Democrat, but White House aides privately acknowledged the remarks were aimed at the presidential candidate and others in his party.
So, the remarks were aimed at Obama.

Perino and the "Cuban Missile Crisis"

Think on this next time Dana Perino assures you about some world event. This is her revealing what she did and didn't know about the Cuban Missile Crisis:

During a White House briefing, a reporter referred to the Cuban Missile Crisis -- and she didn't know what it was.

"I was panicked a bit because I really don't know about . . . the Cuban Missile Crisis," said Perino, who at 35 was born about a decade after the 1962 U.S.-Soviet nuclear showdown. "It had to do with
Cuba and missiles, I'm pretty sure."
She's pretty sure the Cuban Missile Crisis had something to do with "Cuba and missiles". Like World War Two had something to do with the world going to war for the second time.

The next time she confidently assures you that "America does not do torture", bear that in mind. Chances are she doesn't know what it is. Or rather, she's not reassuring you that the US is following the international definition of torture when it declares that it doesn't practice it...
