John Ashcroft "I Don't Have A Mark On My Conscience!"
Ashcroft wants us to know that he has "no mark on his conscience." That doesn't surprise me remotely as lovers of authoritarianism, like Ashcroft, tend not to have consciences like the rest of us have.
The very fact that he can argue that there are different kinds of waterboarding proves the point. The Bush administration used to argue that they did not torture, now they are arguing that there are ways to waterboard someone that does not constitute torture. I mean, seriously, how many ways are there to drown someone?
Bottom. Barrel. Scraping.

Bingo!
Thank you Nunya!
The Authoritarianism of the Bush Administration, indeed of the whole neo-con movement, is an aspect that isnt adressed very often, but it is one of the primary reasons that they are so un-American in nearly everything they do.
Dave, It's what I found most fascinating about Bush's supporters. They claimed that they loved their individualism but actually they were almost craven in their support for all things authoritarian. They practically fell over themselves to give Bush any powers he wanted and had a belief that Big Brother would always do the right thing that I found bordering on creepy.
