David Frum: Why Rush Limbaugh Is Wrong.

David Frum rightly points out why Rush Limbaugh - and Republicans in general - are so out of kilter with the times. Calling for a spending freeze in the middle of the worst recession since the Great depression makes them seem, Frum argues, as being indifferent to people's suffering.

Astonishingly, he claims that his email bag is 90 to 10 against the message that he is giving and implying that a majority of Republicans back Limbaugh's, "I hope Obama fails" message.

It really does appear as if the Republican party have been reduced to a group of radical hatemongers who put party allegiance before what is right for the country.

Funny. My dad (I've mentioned he is a big Limpbaugh listener) drives for a living and spent most of his life as a salesman.

So, Matthews got that bit right did he? I wonder though, does your dad buy into his bullshit? For example, I listen sometimes to Nick Ferrari, a right wing shock jock here in the UK, but I only listen because he annoys me so much. I wonder how many of Limbaugh's 20 million listeners do so for similar reasons?

He does. Not all of it, but most of it.

My father was the same when he was alive. Economically left wing - i.e. the rich should pay more taxes - but totally right wing when it came to social policies. Hang them, birch them etc.
