O'Reilly: The Media Has Successfully Convinced the World the USA is a Nation of Torture.

Even by wacky Bill's standards this is spectacular. He admits "mistakes were made" by the US at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib.

This utterly misses the point.

No-one is talking about mistakes. We are talking about deliberate policy which included acts defined under international law as torture. A policy that both Bush and Cheney have admitted that they authorised.

O'Reilly finds it "despicable" that anyone would want Bush and his cronies prosecuted and thinks anyone asking that America's leaders should be required to obey the law should be "condemned".

And I thought O'Reilly was a great supporter of law and order? Turns out that's totally dependent on who is committing the crime.

I actually wouldn't care if they all went on to be pardoned, but I do think it's important to establish that what they did was a crime.
