Tucker Cancelled.

Just days after Tucker Carlson berated a British journalist for daring to quote someone after they stated - after the fact - that they wished an indiscreet comment to be considered off the record, comes the news that Tucker's show is to be dumped.

Insiders tell TVNewser Tucker Carlson's 6pmET show Tucker is getting the axe, but Carlson stays on as a political contributor to all MSNBC shows at least through the 2008 election. The official announcement, expected tomorrow, will include details about who will replace Tucker at 6pmET as well as other political programming additions. Sources say the network is going to beef up its schedule with more NBC News talent.
Tucker will be relieved that, despite having his own show cancelled, he will nevertheless get to maintain his relationship with the people he refers to as "the powerful" by obsequiously making sure he never asks any questions that might annoy them and cause him to lose "access", which Tucker regards as the inevitable outcome of asking tough questions of any political figure in a democracy.

He'll still get to contribute to other shows in the MSNBC network where he can weave his magic.

Why did American journalists lie down before the Iraq war and let the Bush regime simply railroad the country to war? Because many of them appear to be not dissimilar to Tucker Carlson and they value access to "the powerful" as far more important than holding "the powerful" to account.
