Olbermann: Bush's 'rush' to redefine Geneva Conventions may be mostly about 'covering his own backside'

Olbermann takes up the Bush speech that I posted on Saturday. As Olbermann rightly points out, Bush is trying to "cover his own ass" here and is attempting to make past crimes legal. The men at Guantanamo are widely believed to be about to say they were "waterboarded". This is, of course, an act of torture. If Bush gets his way, it won't be.

That's why Bush is in such a panic over this...

Not the first time a world leader has attempted this. Perhaps he's taking tips from Berlusconi?

We can only hope that the Americans come to the same conclusion that Italians did.

And, of course, now that Berlusconi is no longer in power the immunity no longer applies. Perhaps the same will happen to George. He'll spend his old age like Henry Kissenger and Pinochet, unable to travel abroad for fear of arrest.
