Isreali troops shoot at peaceful protesters

This video shows Israeli troops firing at their own citizens as they protest against the invasion of Lebanon. The protesters are Israelis. I dread to think how they'd have behaved had they been facing foreigners.

geesuz. I don't understand why the Israelis let the camera keep rolling. Was it a soldier with the camera? This is unbelievable.

Kel,

if you go to my site, I link to a story in Ha'aretz about this incident. It seems that the protest was a routine weekly event in the town, whose residents have been protesting the construction of the Wall for over a year. It is not clear from the video that they are protesting the war as well but these good people have been engaged in demonstrations against their government for a long time.

Bhc,

Thanks for that. I have read the story you link to and it gives much more background than the bare video gives.

However. Like yourself, I am left wondering who films this stuff. The cameras seem very much part of the unit and their presence doesn't seem to inhibit the soldiers in any way, it certainly doesn't force them to hold themselves back.
