Repugs Wave Impeachment Fears
If you watch Tom Delay in this clip on Crooks and Liars you'll notice a Republican theme beginning to emerge.
"If you elect the Democrats they are only going to impeach a sitting war time President."
I've heard many of them hitting this, which is obviously going to be their big card going into the mid term elections, hoping to scare the public away from giving the Democrats the house.
However, this might not be the best defence they could take, as poll after poll suggests that this is exactly what the public want.
MSNBC's poll is not scientific but it has 86% of respondents saying that he should be impeached.
AfterDowningStreet.org have 50% in favour of impeachment and 44% against.
Sedition.com have nearly 70% in favour of impeachment and 30% against.
Model Minority, an Asian American website, again has it at about 70% - 30% in favour of impeachment.
The In Your Opinion poll has 82% favouring impeachment.
Indeed, I've been unable to find a single poll in which the majority do not favour impeachment. And it's interesting that gallup are refusing to conduct a poll on the subject.
This reminds me of a campaign the Tories planned to run in Britain before the last general election in which posters warned voters, "Vote Blair - Get Brown". They had to withdraw it before a single poster appeared because research discovered that this was exactly what the public wanted!
The Repugs might want to rethink this particular strategy lest they find themselves in a similar predicament.
