Rummy's a hypocrite.

Rumsfeld has made an extraordinary claim whilst being interviewed by Rush Limbaugh.

Rumsfeld stated, "There have always been people who have opposed wars…I think we just have to accept it, that people have a right to say what they want to say, and to have an acceptance of that and recognize that the terrorists, Zarqawi and bin Laden and Zawahiri, those people have media committees. They are actively out there trying to manipulate the press in the United States. They are very good at it."

Now, this manipulation of the press that Zarqawi and others are "very good at", is something that Rumsfeld did not choose to highlight by giving any examples. He simply stated it as a given.

Any time you hear anti-war sentiments being expressed you are being asked to consider whether the people expressing such thoughts are actually somehow under the influence of Zarqawi.

Of course, he can offer no proof because what he is saying is blatant nonsense. In fact, the people that we do have proof of operating a propaganda campaign is the Bush regime itself.

From the LA Times:

As part of an information offensive in Iraq, the U.S. military is secretly paying Iraqi newspapers to publish stories written by American troops in an effort to burnish the image of the U.S. mission in Iraq.

The articles, written by U.S. military "information operations" troops, are translated into Arabic and placed in Baghdad newspapers with the help of a defense contractor, according to U.S. military officials and documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
So not only is he lying; far worse, he's accusing others of taking the very actions that he himself is currently engaged in.

This is the height of hypocrisy.
