Berlusconi disputes Prodi victory

Silvio Berlusconi is refusing to accept the outcome of the Italian election branding his opponents "experts in fraud". This is simply laughable when one considers that it was his government that set up and ran the latest election.

In a last gasp attempt to hold on to power, he called for a "grand coalition" which was swiftly rejected by Prodi and the winning centre left coalition.

The count gave Mr Prodi 158 Senate seats, against 156 for Mr Berlusconi.

Berlusconi is set to lose everything, including his personal liberty should court cases against him now proceed, so it will literally be a fight to the death.
