Reid Announces Opt-Out Public Option In Merged Senate Bill.

It looks like the Democrats might deliver on this after all. If Obama can pull this off I will be seriously impressed. I wonder what states would dare to opt out? And how quickly would it's citizens rebel when they realised what other states were enjoying which they were being denied?

I was wondering whether this was a way to further erode Republicans, since this now pits them against popular sentiment at a state level.

Dave, I'll be fascinated to see which states now choose to deny their citizens universal healthcare.

It would be suicidal.

Some will try to do it anyway. I'd predict Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi, Montana. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

I find it fascinating. Up until now the only example the Republicans give for why universal healthcare doesn't work is Canada and the United Kingdom, implying for most people that both those services are worse than the current US one, which is actually untrue.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the state next door gets things that the state these buggers live in does not.

And through relatives etc, everyone will get to hear just what the service is really like.
