David Waldman discusses Iraq-Torture link on CNN.com.

David Waldman does an excellent job here of pointing out the staggering immorality of ordering torture in order to help gain support for your policy.

What's fascinating is, the moment he slightly overstates his case, by making comparisons with the Spanish Inquisition, the right wingers are on top of him and pretend that they are somehow nobly defending "the troops".

And Erica Williams from CAP is simply a disgrace. The American people she has decided simply want "to move on."

But Waldman comes back and dares them to ask the American people again, if they support torture in order to give politicians false ways to defend their policies.

As he rightly states, the Hague was built exactly for situations and behaviour of this kind. These people lied in order to start an illegal invasion and then, when the WMD they used to justify the invasion fail to materialise, they wanted to torture people - to say that Saddam had links to al Qaeda - and save themselves the political embarrassment of being flat wrong.

People have gone to jail for less than that.

Exactly. Thank you.

I do worry though, Nunya, that they are going to get away with this.

I see no determination amongst the Obama camp to right this wrong.
