Colin Powell: There Should Be Special Prosecutor For Bush Officials On Torture.

Retired Army Colonel, Lawrence Wilkerson, who served as Chief of Staff for Colin Powell states here that he believes the six lawyers who drafted the torture memos disbarred and that Jay Bybee should be impeached.

Interestingly, he says that Colin Powell believed that American democracy "would work" and that people would be held accountable for their actions.

Powell has also let it be known that he believes a special prosecutor should be appointed and "armed to the teeth" to look into this. I find it reassuring that a former member of the Bush administration is willing to stand up and say this. If Powell can publicly call for this then surely this begins to give Obama the cover he needs to avoid the charge that he is being partisan when he asks that people who disobeyed the law so flagrantly are held to account.
