Mosaic: What’s Netanyahu’s Deal?
It hasn't taken long for Netanyahu to show his colours, coming up with new conditions which must be implemented before he can begin to negotiate with the Palestinians.
Now, apparently, the Palestinians must recognise Israel, "as a Jewish state" before Israel will negotiate on a state of Palestine. In other words, the Palestinians must denounce the rights of Arab Israelis before negotiations can begin.
Netanyahu, like Olmert before him, is simply attempting to make negotiations impossible. This is the way Israel has been behaving for years. Telling the US that she desperately seeks, "a partner in peace" and yet constantly coming up with new reasons as to why negotiations are presently impossible.
Obama should treat this most recent red herring with the contempt it deserves.
