Blair steps up fight to be crowned first 'President of EU'
Oh, please God someone stop this from happening:
The very last thing Europe needs is this war criminal as it's president.Tony Blair has emerged as the leading candidate to become the first permanent president of the European Union after Gordon Brown gave his grudging blessing to the plan. The former prime minister has stepped up his campaign for the job, which he wants to use to build a bridge between Europe and the new Obama administration.
His return to the global stage would be a shock to his critics over the Iraq war and dismay many in Europe.
But The Independent on Sunday has learnt that Mr Brown has accepted that his old rival should be in pole position for the appointment, on the basis that Britain needs to have a key figure in the architecture of the "new world order".
And I find it simply astonishing that, seven years after he launched his illegal invasion of Iraq, the British people have still never had any inquiry of any kind which examines the use of intelligence with which Blair justified that invasion.
There are many of us who still believe that any inquiry will prove that Blair deliberately misled us into that war.
Surely it is not too much to ask that the British people should have an answer to that legitimate question before we elevate this man to be the president of Europe?

Perhaps this will push an investigation into happening. How is England's relationship with Spain? Would an investigation/indictment of Blair via Spain be accepted as reasonable, or shrugged off as politics?
Oh, we would not object if the Spanish wanted to add Blair's name to the list of those suspected of war crimes.
There are many in the Labour party who would applaud such a move.
