Beck's Militia Rise Up.

Glenn Beck finds it simply unjustifiable that anyone could seek to make any link between Richard Poplawski's fear of Obama taking away his gun rights and the fact that he shot three policemen.

"Before they found out about the dog-peeing story, the press, the blogs, everybody immediately went to, 'This guy's a conservative with guns that says Obama's coming.' "
But it is a fact that Poplawski believed much of the crap about "Obama will take away your guns!" that Beck often spouts on his TV and radio shows.
Richard Andrew Poplawski was a young man convinced the nation was secretly controlled by a cabal that would eradicate freedom of speech, take away his guns and use the military to enslave the citizenry.

"He was really into politics and really into the First and Second amendment. One thing he feared was he feared the gun ban because he thought that was going to take away peoples' right to defend themselves. He never spoke of going out to murder or to kill," said Edward Perkovic, who described himself as Mr. Poplawski's lifelong best friend.
Where would he get these notions?
On his radio show, Beck said that Obama "will slowly but surely take away your gun or take away your ability to shoot a gun, carry a gun. He will make them more expensive; he'll tax them out of existence. He will because he has said he would. He will tax your gun or take your gun away one way or another."
But we must not conclude that there is any correlation between Beck telling people that they must take back their country from Fascists who will take away their gun rights, and a man who thinks his gun rights are about to be taken away opening fire on three policemen.

However, as Olbermann brilliantly reminds us here, it was Glenn Beck who saw a direct correlation between television, video games and violence; including the murder of policemen.

Beck stated:
We are training our kids to be killers. If you think video games are just harmless fun, which everyone always says, you should know that our military, our leaders at the Pentagon have never seen it that way.
Of the game Grand Theft Auto he stated:
When a police officer comes after him, he can either light that officer on fire - or he can cut him in half with a chain saw. This is entertainment?!?

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association just television, the introduction of television in the 1950's caused a doubling of the homicide rate in America.
So, lets get this straight. Television can cause violence, but Glenn Beck sitting on television telling people to rise up and "take your country back" - because Obama is going to take away your guns - could not possibly lead to violence?

How does that work?
