Political Hits and Misses 2008.

2008 was a great year to be a blogger as there seemed so much to write about. The epic battle between Obama and Clinton and then the utterly disgraceful campaign of John McCain, which was about as dirty and dishonest as any I have ever seen waged.

Then came the unexpected bonus of Sarah Palin, who was literally the gift that kept on giving, with her incredible lack of knowledge and her astonishing self confidence.

Looking back at it in such a short clip it all seems so inevitable that Obama would walk it. But there were many days when it didn't feel that way. However, that's all behind us and, in 18 days, we begin a new chapter.

The reelection of Bush shook us to the core. If a man who was breaking record for failure and disapproval, while destroying our image abroad and our economy, could be reelected for a second term, then our hopes for a rational electorate in 08 were slim. I don't have big problem with McCain, but I shudder to think what that woman would have done to our world should he have kicked the proverbial bucket.

I was stunned when the US re-elected Bush, as was most of the world.

And the thought of Sarah Palin being a 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency filled everyone with horror.

I think McCain destroyed any chance he had of the presidency when he named her as his running mate.
