Jubilant Crowds Gather Outside White House.

I've never seen this before. Crowds of people lining up outside the White House to express their joy at the end of an election.

Ezra Klein:

I've never seen DC's streets like that. I've never seen any streets like that. Thousands of people, screaming, honking, hugging each other. An indiscriminate celebration. U Street was a mass of humanity, everyone giving high-fives, drivers stuck in the road and laughing with the crowd. The whole scene just utterly joyous and totally, even strikingly, racially integrated.

Ingrid,

Your brain went exactly where mine went. It was like a spontaneous outburst wishing Bush would vacate the White House immediately.

At six am this morning so may people texted to me to say that they were in tears. It's just wonderful.

It is slower. It must be the whole world watching what took place.

And I watched the clip. Funny and very topical.

I was so wrong. I predicted Barack Obama would not be elected, no matter what happened. So wrong.

So Kel. What's next? Think you've got what it takes to start getting paid for what you do? I think you've got it.

Will, I still find it hard to get enough people to read what I do!

Isn't Obama's election a glorious thing though?

As I linked to this post, one of my blogger friends commented seeing this on tv and inspite of the lack of audio, could tell that they were singing an known baseball chant (no doubt a soccer chant in Europe, I think I've heard that one before I left the continent)..nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, good bye!

makes sense..[g]

Ingrid,

That is fantastic. A spontaneous outburst of mockery!

Yes, Kel, as far as getting enough people to read you, I would suggest changing that to "getting more of the right people to read you". You know? That can mean just a handful of people with whom you enjoy talking, or it can be more of a "target the influential people" type of route. You don't strike me as ambitious (GENUINE is more like it) but if you ever wanted to get paid to do this, it's less a matter of numbers and more a matter of friends in high places. Whatever the future holds for you, all I can say is, your blog is way more useful to me than 99.9% of the mainstream sources out there. You cover all the salient topics of the moment--the same general subject matter as the mainstream--but in a way that is clearer, and with a conscience. Just my two cents.
