Cheney Endorses McCain.
This can't be good news for McCain. He's done his best to distance himself from this administration for the entire campaign and now the only man in America with less popularity than Bush gives McCain his endorsement.
I note though that even Cheney appears to take a coughing fit the second he makes his endorsement. And Cheney must surely find it galling to have to pretend that Palin is able to fit into his role with ease. Why has he spent the last eight years striking fear into American hearts if his role can be adequately filled by a Hockey Mom?
The Obama camp must be letting off the champagne corks as we speak. An endorsement from Cheney? That must be even less welcome to McCain than his endorsement from al Qaeda.
UPDATE:
And whilst McCain is receiving the kiss of death from Cheney, Obama is being endorsed by the son of Ronald Reagan, the man McCain adored and idolised.
I assumed most people already knew that I had supported Obama. Anyone who has spent five minutes listening to my program would have known that. But if it helped to make it official, I'm happy to make it so.
Obama is all over this like a rash.
I'd like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it. That endorsement didn't come easy. Senator McCain had to vote 90 percent of the time with George Bush and Dick Cheney to get it. He served as Washington's biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq, and supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years. So Senator McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney's support. As I said, this is endorsement is a kiss of death.
But here's my question for you, Colorado: Do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain's going to bring change? Do you think John McCain and Dick Cheney have been talking about how to shake things up, and get rid of the lobbyists and the old boys club in Washington?
