McCain Strategist: "If We Keep Talking About The Economic Crisis, We're Going To Lose"

It's not rocket science. They have no policies, or rather, the policies which they have are utterly toxic to the electorate, so they wish to fight on the grounds which Republicans traditionally want to fight on.

Character.

McCain's course correction reflects a growing case of nerves within his high command as the electoral map has shifted significantly in Obama's favor in the past two weeks.

"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

They don't get it. It's not just eight years of one of the most unpopular Presidents in American history, it's also a financial crisis brought about by the ideology which they have spent the last twenty years telling us is the only way.

The Republicans are imploding. And with McCain moving towards the negative - again - he's only going to further alienate independents.

But what choice does he have? At this moment in time, he's seriously buggered.

He's only buggered if the American people are waking up and turning on their brains. Personally, I'm not sure enough of them have done that yet.

From the comfort of another continent I am very comfortable that Obama is well on course to do this.

Of course things can change in the next few weeks but, as things stand just now, 538.com give Obama an 87% chance of being the next President.

I'll take those odds.
