How ugly will McCain and Palin allow this to get?

I've already linked earlier today to the story that, when McCain asked who Obama really was, a supporter yelled "Terrorist".

That's now becoming part of a worrying pattern.

When Palin told a crowd her greatly exaggerated story of Obama's links to Bill Ayers, a member of the crowd shouted out, "Kill him."

Now the crowds following Palin are becoming openly racist:

Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

Palin has already warned her supporters:
"Okay, so, Florida, you know that you're going to have to hang on to your hats," she said at a morning rally in Clearwater, "because from now until Election Day, it may get kind of rough."
This isn't "rough". This is ugly. And it's disgraceful.

We are witnessing the death of the Republican party. The lunatics are finally taking over the asylum. They loathe McCain because he's not one of them. But Palin represents them. Under qualified. Over confident. Suspicious of intellectuals. Proud of what she doesn't know.

If one thinks about it, she's Bush's natural successor. Nixon's cynical splitting of America for political gain has arrived at it's radical and inevitable conclusion.

If one wants to know why this political organisation deserves to die, one needs only to listen to their crowds expressing their deepest desires.

"We are witnessing the death of the Republican party"

I do so hope that's true. I'm not holding my breath just yet though, at best they've got their death throes to go through, and those could get violent. It's a damn shame that it may take the collapse of the world's economy to take them out.

I obviously mean it's death in it's present form. It's now being run by the lunatic fringe. Just listening to their audience proves how manic they have become.
