Obama: Palin would be the lipstick, McCain's failed polices would be the pig.

Obama handles this excellently pointing out that, if his intention was what the McCain team imply then Sarah Palin would be the lipstick and John McCain's failed policies would be the pig.

He's also very funny talking about Palin's recent rise to national prominence stating, "There's no doubt that she's been a phenomenon. As someone who used to be on the cover of Time and Newsweek. [...] Those were the days [...] I had a recent offer from Popular Mechanics, centre fold with a wrench..."

Humour can be the perfect way to disarm people and make this kind of nonsense go away.

I actually did a post on that. Humor is perhaps the only real way to beat the Republican fear machine; certainly logic doesnt seem to work.

Dave,

I've just read it and I also noticed this morning your picture of McCain as the pig with lipstick.

But more than just laugh at them, valuable as I think that is, I think Obama also has to inspire again. He's behaving like a policy wonk at the moment which is what Hillary did when he inspired everyone to beat her.

Yes. we need policy, but we also need his story sold as the American Dream that it is. At the moment the Republicans are behaving as if they come from central casting, the war hero and the Hockey mom out to transform Washington.

Obama needs to remember why his campaign against Hillary was so effective. After beating her McCain should be easy as his policies are toxic. But McCain's carefully keeping everything as far away from policy as he can and he's defining the talking points.

This needs to change. Quickly.
