McCain's staff began vetting Palin on Wednesday night. Job offer made next day.
The more this story of how McCain came to pick Palin to be on his ticket reveals an astonishingly ramshackle process. It now turns out that the vetting of Palin did not begin until Wednesday night and it was only then that Palin revealed her daughter was pregnant. As we all know McCain met her on Thursday and offered her the job very quickly and made the announcement on the Friday.
I happen to think that Maddow is correct and that this says an awful lot about McCain rather than Palin. He's gambling on someone that he knew next to nothing about.
And it's hysterical to watch Pat Buchanan sing her praises when he was saying the exact opposite about her when her name was first raised as a possibility.
