FBI on Ivins: His religion forbade abortion, but yet he killed himself.

I've been on planes all day and this is just breaking so I will say what seems obvious to me now and make more comment on this later.

The FBI are releasing documents which relate to it's case against Bruce Ivins, the US government scientist, who they say was behind the anthrax attacks in the US shortly after 9-11.

Glenn Greenwald is ploughing through the documents and posting as he does so. But one of the reasons given for Ivins' action is this:

Ivins harbored animosity towards Catholic politicians who were pro-choice, particularly Sen. Daschle and Sen. Leahy, two of the targets of the most virulent anthrax strain that was sent;
Okay, so he's a sufficiently strict Catholic to see all human life, including the unborn, as sacred.

But yet he took his own life? That goes against everything the Catholic church teaches. From the Catholic Encyclopedia:
"Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of."
That contradiction strikes me as... odd.
