Bush praises McCain for the passing of a Bill which McCain actually opposed.
This is an indication of the lies that routinely come out of Republicans lips. Here we see Bush thank John McCain for his support for the GI Bill. The truth is that John McCain was opposed to the GI Bill saying that "it would hurt the military and our country very badly."
Saying he takes "a back seat to no one in my affection, respect and devotion to veterans," McCain said Webb's bill would be a disincentive for service members to become noncommissioned officers, which he called "the backbone of all the services."To now pretend that McCain supported a bill which we all know he opposed is the height of hypocrisy. Will the "straight talker" slam Bush for this?
"In my life, I have learned more from noncommissioned officers I have known and served with than anyone else outside my family," McCain said at a Memorial Day event in Albuquerque.
"They are very hard to replace. Encouraging people to choose to not become noncommissioned officers would hurt the military and our country very badly."
Oh no, wait, he's already claimed credit himself for the passing of this bill which he opposed:
I'm happy to tell you that we probably agreed to an increase in educational benefits for our veterans that not only gives them increase in their educational benefits, but if they stay in for a certain period of time than they can transfer those educational benefits to their spouses and or children.Who is this "we" he's talking about? He opposed this bill every step of the way. Will the press highlight yet another McCain flip-flop? I won't be holding my breath...
UPDATE:
Here Jim Gibb talks to Olbermann about Bush and McCain saying that they supported his bill.
