Wes Clark says McCain is "untested and untried".

You can almost hear the horror in the voices of the mainstream media that anyone would dare to question John McCain's credentials. They have decided that McCain has certain qualities and they are loathe to consider the fact that they might be wrong.

Being a war hero makes you no more capable of being president than having a cat scan makes you capable of being a brain surgeon.

Being a prisoner of war is not the great achievement it's being sold as. Anyone can get captured, that's not actually an act of heroism.

Nor, as you say, does that prove he has any quality which make him deserving to be president.

It's simply the Republicans doing what they always do and attempting to sell their man as John Wayne. They did it with Reagan, they did it with George W. and they tried it with Fred Thompson. They are always attempting to sell their man's qualities rather than his policies.

And they appear to have a weirdly homoerotic fascination with "real" men. Which is especially odd as their policies are so profoundly homophobic.
