Senator McCain, Did You Call Your Wife the "C" word?

Someone has, at last, asked John McCain the question which the mainstream press are avoiding asking.

In Cliff Schecter's new book, "The Real McCain" he alleges that McCain used the C word and called his wife "a trollop" in front of reporters and staff. The mainstream media, who can't stop fulminating over what Reverend Wright has said and how this might effect Obama, are giving this question the widest of wide berths.

So Marty Parrish attended one of McCain's rallies and, when given the opportunity to pose a questions, asked McCain this:

"This question goes to mental health and mental health care. Previously, I've been married to a woman that was verbally abusive to me. Is it true that you called your wife a c---?"
The gasp that goes through the room is audible with cries of "What?!?" McCain responds:
"Now, now. You don't want to ...Um, you know, that's the great thing about town hall meetings, sir, but we really don't .... There's people here who don't respect that kind of language. So I'll move on to the next questioner in the back."
This is greeted with a huge round of applause. I wonder how these same people would react if they knew whether or not McCain had actually said such a thing.

Because what is very noticeable here is that McCain does not issue a denial. McCain must be aware of the allegation and could easily have dismissed it as false and condemned the author of the book, but he's chosen not to. Perhaps there were too many witnesses when he said it.

However, McCain does not have to worry about Parrish hounding him and asking the question again:
The Secret Service agent made me promise not to show up at any McCain campaign events in the future," said Parrish. "I told him that wouldn't be a problem - I'd forgotten how boring Republican events are," he added. "McCain had about 300 really old people today. When Obama campaigns here in the fall, there'll probably be 15,000 people of all ages and backgrounds, cheering him on."
However, as Rove says that the next election should be fought on the candidate's character, I think it is of vital importance that it is established whether or not McCain is too much of a hot head to have his finger on the nuclear button.

So will anyone in the mainstream media ever ask McCain whether he did or did not say this dreadful thing to his wife? Because, if the rumour was that Obama had ever said anything so vile, they'd be all over it like a rash.
