McCain releases health-records, but only to a selected few.

John McCain is keen to stress that he has nothing to hide. So he has arranged to release his medical records, but only in a Friday dump and only under highly controlled circumstances.

  • only a small, select group of reporters will have access to the records in a secure room in Phoenix, AZ
  • access is limited to only three hours, between 7 and 10 AM on Friday
  • no copying of the records is permitted
And he's doing this at a time when public opinion would appear to suggest that Americans have genuine concerns about electing a person of McCain's age to office.

Nothing to see here folks, moving on....

He's ahead of the other candidates, who have release nothing. Obama has promised at best to eventually release a "summary" of his records though. Bill Clinton never released his. Much ado about nothing.

The records of a 71 year old man who has already had a bout of cancer are more relevant than those of the younger contenders.

After all, he's the one more likely to die in office. His age alone makes that statistically more likely.

How do we know the others are healthy unless they release their records? Cancer is not something that discriminates by age, for example.

That Obama guy is certainly looking a little malnourished, for example. And given that he couldn't remember how many states there are in the US, I'd have to wonder if he's healthy.

I'm sure in time they will release their records. Apparently McCain is getting his out early, and on a Friday, and only to handpicked journalists, because doesn't want the cnacer story to be in the forefront of people's minds come November.
