McCain Feels the Obama Effect
A year ago Mark McKinnon vowed that he would leave John McCain's campaign if Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination as he did not want to campaign against Obama because Obama's election "would send a great message to the country and the world."
True to his word he has announced today that he is to leave McCain's team now that Obama is the presumptive Democratic nominee.McKinnon, a former Democrat, played a central role in Gov. George W. Bush's 2000 campaign and the Bush-Cheney reelection four years later. He was part of a large contingent of Bush operatives to make the transition to McCain in late 2006 and early 2007, but was one of only a handful who stuck with the Arizona senator after his campaign's implosion last summer.
Apart from the fact that Obama can attract crowds of 75,000 to rallies comes the news that some of McCain's own staff don't want to work against Obama becoming President.
That's gotta hurt....
