'Hillary Clinton Blew it in October in October, 2002'

"If I had gotten up every time I heard a priest from a pulpit in my travels around the country say things that I've heard them say ... it would have been so much aerobic exercise for me, I wouldn't look that way." -- Michael Moore.
I am not religious in any way, but I know that friends of mine, who are religious, often hear things in church which they disagree with. The notion that they should walk out simply wouldn't occur to them.

There is a reason they say your church is your "family".

I think what people need to realise is that no-one walks out of a course or a class because they disagree with fellow students, or the lecturer. Neither would most people leave a party, a real family or a sports team. One would hope that people go on to form their own ideas whilst keeping respectful and friendly relationships.

Secondly, if Christians are really practicing what they believe they should be the most accepting people on earth.

Thirdly, if a church turns you away for being gay, black, white, female, young, old or not-like-us then don't bother, they already turned away Jesus a long time ago.

Alex, I am so glad that you say that. My family, many of whom are religious, are often telling me of things which they disagree with coming from the pulpit.

The notion that they should leave that church is simply ludicrous to them.

They have been going there for decades, leaving is not a small matter.
