Chuck Todd: McCain Can Get Away With Lying

Todd engages in a rare moment of honesty, admitting that the press go easy on McCain and that had a Democrat made a similar mistake to the one McCain made - claiming that Iran are aiding al Qaeda - that the media would have played it endlessly "on a loop" to damage their campaign.

No, he did not "admit" that. He stated that the media would play it on a running loop and that it would be a "big problem for a couple of days" for that candidate. He did not say, as you falsely claimed he did, that the media would do so in order to damage that candidate's campaign.

He said that they would play it on a loop. Do you think that would aid their campaign? No, it would harm it.

Your point is?

Your point is?

The point is that you are being misleading again. You are trying to attribute to him something he neither said nor implied. You are confusing your interpretation with the facts of what was actually said.

He stated a belief that the media would play such a gaff on an endless loop. You attributed to that simple statement your assumption that the media would do so with the motivation of damaging the candidate's campaign, despite the fact that nowhere did he state or imply anything like that. Regardless of that fact, you attributed to him something that he did not say or imply. That is called being "misleading", at best.

Couldn't you have simply stuck with the facts in order to make whatever point it is you were trying to make, or was embellishment preferable?

Okay, answer me this, would playing the gaffe on a loop help or hinder the Democrat campaign?

And are you seriously arguing that the media are unaware of whether playing a gaffe endlessly on a loop hinders or harms a candidacy?
