Why Do The Democrats Think They Have No Choice But To Cave?
Hat tip to Crooks and Liars.
"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness." - John Kenneth Galbraith.

That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another.
The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.

Israel's arguement about the 1994 gov't shutdown is totally flawed. People werent sick of the gov't then, they were sick of Republicans, just like they are now. Give that bastard bill after bill after bill, let him veto them, and the people will know who is causing the problem, and who to blame when their services run out.
Dave, I totally agree. The Republicans are acting as if people are too stupid to know what is actually going on. It's depressing to see the Democrats playing along with this ruse. Let the bastard veto I say!
Have you noticed that Congress's numbers have dropped, but Bush's have been gone back up a bit? The public knows who the losers are, and nobody likes a loser. This Democratic congress may just be responsible for "redeeming" Bush (okay, by a little, anyway)
The Democrats are deserving of contempt. They were elected to carry out a job that they have shown no stomach for doing.
