Israel minister: Sack ElBaradei

Oh, the nutters really are determined to get their war in Iran and will go to any lengths to make sure that all who stand in their way are removed:

A senior Israeli minister has called for the sacking of Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the UN nuclear watchdog.

Deputy PM Shaul Mofaz said the Egyptian head of the International Atomic Energy Agency had endangered world peace by neglecting Iran's nuclear programme.

His comments come days before the IAEA is to publish its latest Iran report.

Mr ElBaradei has said Iran's nuclear programme is not an immediate threat and if it wanted to build a nuclear bomb it would need years to do so.

The IAEA report will help determine whether the United Nations imposes a third set of sanctions on Tehran.

"The policies followed by ElBaradei endanger world peace. His irresponsible attitude of sticking his head in the sand over Iran's nuclear programme should lead to his impeachment," Mr Mofaz said during a visit to Washington.

So, the Israelis who have secretly developed a nuclear weapons programme whose existence they refuse to confirm or deny - choosing instead a policy of "ambiguity" - now have the gall to call for the head of Mohamed ElBaradei because he refuses to state what Israel and the US want to hear. Namely, that Iran are developing a nuclear weapons programme.

Neither Israel nor the US have produced a scintilla of evidence that Iran - a signatory to the NNPT which Israel refuses to sign up to - has developed any nuclear weapons programme and, indeed, Khamenei has issued a fatwa saying the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons was forbidden under Islam.

So, either Khamenei is serious about his religion and means what he says - and I've never heard any serious argument that he is not - or he is unserious and willing to issue fatwas to cover his lies.

Neither Israel nor the US have made any serious attempt to convince anyone that the Iranians are building a nuclear weapon, they are simply stating that the Iranians are and hoping that by stating this constantly that it will become, in the public's mind, a sort of truth.

But for Mofaz to call for ElBaradei's head simply because he refuses to state that Iran have a nuclear weapons programme is outrageous in the extreme. Lest we forget, before the Iraq war everything that ElBaradei said turned out to be true and everything that Bush's warmongers said turned out to be flat false.

But this kind of pressure on ElBaradei is simply further proof of how some nutcases really will stop at nothing to have a chance to attack Iran. And they will try to have anyone who asks for actual proof to be fired for the crime of "endangering world peace", which really is Orwellian in the extreme, when the real threat to world peace comes from the warmongers themselves.
