CCTV reveals Menezes' final moments

If you click on the title you will be able to read the whole of the report into Ivor's testimony yesterday at the enquiry into the shooting of Jean Charles de Menenzes. Ivor was the man who held De Menezes down whilst police shot seven bullets into him. Yesterday's testimony and the CCTV shown disproved much that the police had claimed - or rather failed to dispute - when the media carried these lies.

Contrary to reports at the time, Menezes – who had been mistaken by police for a suicide bomber – was not running and did not jump over the ticket barriers, the newly released footage clearly showed.

My complaint has always been that he could and should have been detained long before he got to Stockwell tube station and given a chance to prove that he was not a suicide bomber.

Ivor yesterday said this:
Ivor told the court: "I requested via my radio whether or not Menezes should be detained. I received the reply that I should wait." He added: "I was certainly in a position to effect some sort of detention of Menezes."
And yet the police allowed him to enter Stockwell tube station where they felt they had no option other than to gun this innocent man down.

Someone should be fired for this. They could easily have detained him and yet they didn't and now he is dead.
