Olbermann: Bushs' Depraved Indifference to Democracy
As Bush refuses to be swayed by polls, we see a theme appearing amongst the war mongers. As the polls clearly show that most Americans have given up on the Iraq war and, indeed, on the Bush presidency itself; the whole notion of listening to poll results must be attacked. Polls - the reflection of public opinion within a democracy - must be cast aside."One must compliment Mr. Bush's writer. That, perhaps, was the mostly perfectly-crafted phrase of his presidency. For depraved indifference to democracy, for the craven projection of political motives onto those trying to save lives and save a nation, for a dismissal of the value of the polls and the importance of the media, for a summary of all he does not hold dear about this nation or its people nothing could top that."
