John Bolton faces the BBC.

John Bolton discovers what it's like to be properly interviewed by a member of the BBC. Something that bears no relations to the kind of interviews usually carried out by the US media.

He thinks that the US bears no responsibility to ensure that Iraqi civilians are not killed, saying that this is the responsibility of the Iraqis. He also thinks it's better to live in a failed state than in a dictatorship.

There, the new definition of American success! Perhaps there is a third way, but - of course - according to Bolton, that wasn't America's responsibility. Oh, and any damage caused to the reputation of the Bush administration by the fact that there were no WMD, are down to "faint hearts" in London and Washington.

This bugger is a grade "A" fucking nutter... Proof of how bankrupt the neo-cons are as a political movement can be proved simply by listening to this reactionary gasbag.

Kel, God knows how much this shit was paid to stand up in the UN and spout this illogical revisionist neocolonial crap. On one hand the Iraqis are not good at running the country and like children (despite Iraq having one of the highest number of multiple PhD's in the world and health and education that were the envy of the middle east) have to be led by our US friends to learn how to do be good forelock tuggers. Then he switches to the intellectual hardware (mujahdeen nuclear scientsits .. aren;t we mixing Muslim metaphors and allegiances??)argument to defend the war.
I can only cast an evil spell that will bring him bleeding heamorriods and shingles for the rest of his hopefully short life.

John Bolton discovers what it's like to be condescendingly interviewed by a pompous ass from the BBC. Something that bears no relations to the kind of interviews usually carried out by the professional media.

While I will admit that the level of pomposity is something you will rarely see on US media, given that you have said time and again that you do not watch US media, I don't believe you are qualified to make any claims one way or the other regarding what the US media does.

Unfortunately, one of the problems with the Iraqis is that the Shia majority believes that they have a divine right to rule how they see fit after decades of brutal repression under the Ba'athists. They don't believe they should have to make concessions to any of the non-Shia factions. While I can understand this point of view (I don't agree with it, but I do understand it), it's not very conducive to peacefully running a country with a diverse population.

List where Paxman "condescended" Bolton...

He appears to take a condescending tone throughout the interview. Of course as I don't claim opinion as fact, that is just my opinion of his tone.

Ah, so now it's just your "opinion". Rather than discussing the peripherals, which appears to be your preferred chosen ground, why don't we talk about the substance of what Bolton was saying?

Do you think it's better to live in a failed state rather a dictatorship?

Do you agree with his statement that preventing the murder of Iraqis is down to the Iraq government rather than the occupying force?

What do you make of his comments that, at the time, the comments he made were made because he was part of the administration, rather than because he actually believed them?

Do you believe "the evidence is not yet in" regarding Iraq's WMD?

Shit. I typed up a long response to this earlier today and I see not it's not here. I must have hit "preview" and not "publish". Sigh. Maybe later.
