I'm against abortion myself, however it's a complete fools errand to try and stamp it out.
It's a problem I have with the church that seems to care only about the first 9 months of life but not the rest.
One thing I've always asked is why isn't the church putting more effort into adoption of those children who have been born and yet abandoned.
Sadly, it's really because it's easier to tell someone what they should do than to help them do it.
I'm not sure which "Church" you are talking about when you refer to "the Church". There is no one central Christian authority. Often when people mention "the Church" they seem to refer to the Roman Catholic Church (since there is a central Roman Catholic authority), however Falwell is a Baptist. As far as the Catholics go, there are many Catholic run orphanages throughout the world and many Catholic charities dedicated to adoption, with Catholicism advocating adoption over abortion (it almost goes without saying).
I of course, am not Catholic, however I do refer to the catholic church.
Catholics may well have the moral authority to say they run orphanages, however we have just had several Catholic orphanages quit over here in the UK due to government regulation on homosexuality.
Not only that, I'm sure you've read about the Catholic Bishop who has now withdrawn support for Amnesty International.
What I am saying is, I believe you can oppose abortion and gay marriage, but privately. Instead the catholic church should focus on doing and supporting good deeds. A lot of good is done by Amnesty International, simply withdrawing support for a policy which is not totally unreasonable really does show you are prepared to sacrifice but not show mercy (contrary to God's will).

Why should one's beliefs be only held privately? I mean Kel here holds many beliefs which I personally find abhorant, but he's entitled to express them publicly. Now if I opposed gay marriage I personally would probably do so privately, but abortion is a different issue. If you believe that abortion is murder, then I'm not sure how you could only do so privately.

Again, this video has nothing to do with the Catholic Church so I am quite loathe to even respond to this, however... Any organization, particularly a religious one, must only act consistent with its stated beliefs. It can't make exceptions. Therefore it cannot support other organizations who act contrary to their beliefs.
I'm not saying you are doing so, but it seems that it is somehow politically correct in liberal circles to attack Catholics and other Christians. I'm not sure what the reason for this acceptance is, but it has to stop.

In your second comment you incorrectly assumed I was referring to the Roman Catholic Church, you then framed the rest of your argument based on this incorrect assumption.
I simply played on the meaning of the term 'catholic' and you completely missed it, which proves to me you know less than you presume.
Small 'c' not capital 'C'.
