Run up the white flag.

Every so often I read something the Dems are saying and I can't help thinking that they are totally spineless. Take this:

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin said Democrats may be ready to compromise in the showdown with President George W. Bush over linking funding for U.S. troops in Iraq with a timetable for withdrawal.

Should Bush veto war-funding legislation that sets a limit on the U.S. military presence, Levin said the majority Democrats likely will strip out language calling for troops to start leaving Iraq in four months while keeping demands that the Iraqi government meet benchmarks for quelling sectarian violence.

``We're not going to cut off funding for the troops,'' the Michigan Democrat said on ABC's ``This Week'' program. ``But what we should do, and we're going to do, is continue to press this president to put some pressure on the Iraqi leaders to reach a political settlement.''
They are conceding the point before Bush has even used his veto. Actually inviting him to do so, reassuring him that, if he does so, they will strip out the language that offends him.

And they are offering this concession - did I say concession? Try abject surrender - at a time when the majority of Americans back the original language in the legislation:
A Newsweek magazine poll released March 31 found 57 percent of Americans back the Senate's plan to set a March 2008 deadline for troops to withdraw.
Democrats were elected to end this war. They appear to have fallen at the first fence. It's not only spineless, it's an abdication of responsibility.

I read this and thought you were going to be talking about the Democrat strategy for Iraq.

Of course you did, Jason. That's why I continue to say you think like a Republican.

Nah, I think like someone who isn't ready to sell-out their country in order to try to score political points in 2008.

You think that's why 57% of Americans want to pull out? You think they want to score political points? I think they might simply have accepted that the war is lost.
