Blair interviewed again by police
After a six day news blackout it has now been revealed that Blair was interviewed by the police for a second time last Friday. This interview - which we are only being told of today - took place several days before the arrest of Lord Levy for the second time which took place last Tuesday on suspicion of obstructing the course of justice, leading one to speculate on whether or not Blair's answers concluded with Lord Levy's.
Mr Blair's official spokesman said the prime minister was not interviewed under caution and was not accompanied by a lawyer - although a civil service note-taker was present. A Scotland Yard statement said the news blackout was requested for "operational reasons", but gave no further details. This whole thing is getting curiouser and curiouser. Blair has declined to make any comment. He was the first ever sitting Prime Minister to be questioned by the police in Downing Street as part of a criminal investigation and now, lo and behold, he's the second as well!
It added: "The prime minister has been interviewed briefly to clarify points emerging from the ongoing investigation. He was interviewed as a witness, not as a suspect and co-operated fully."
