O'Reilly: "Do I care if the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other in Iraq?"

There was a time when supporters of the war used to attack people who opposed the war as "not caring about the Iraqi people".

It was always the cheapest of charges from a group who supported the sanctions that killed over half a million Iraqi babies.

However, as things have gone from bad to worse since the invasion those same people have now turned on the Iraqis, blaming them for the consequences of the invasion that the pro-war crowd inflicted upon them.

But none has gone as far as Bill O'Reilly who issued this stunning statement:

Do I care if the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other in Iraq? No. I don't care. Let's get our people out of there. Let them kill each other. Maybe they'll all kill each other, and then we can have a decent country in Iraq.

It's the final proof - were any needed - that their supposed care for the Iraqi people was the hypocritical bile we always thought it was.

Excellent point ! The pro-war main justification was that they cared. If you read Saturday (Ian McEwan) the main character supports the war only for this reason, to free Iraqis from a ruthless dictator. But they plunged them in a more savage civil war and chaos. Iraq is a hell.

Dr Strangelove,

They are simply hypocrites who grasp whatever argument suits them on any given day and then dispense with that reasoning whenever it becomes troublesome.

Their lack of morality is startling.
