Rumsfeld may face abuse charges

Donald Rumsfeld may face prosecution in Germany for the abuses that have taken place in Guantanamo Bay and in Abu Ghraib.

A complaint has been launched by the US-based Centre for Constitutional Rights, representing a Saudi detained in Cuba and 11 Iraqis held in Baghdad.

German law allows the pursuit of cases originating anywhere in the world.

The centre made a similar request in 2004 but German prosecutors dropped that case.
The Centre for Constitutional Rights argues that Rumsfeld was "instrumental" in the abuses that took place at both those establishments.

Under international law war it is incumbent on all nations to bring prosecutions against war criminals, especially if the accused person's home nation is making no attempt to bring them to court to answer the charges against them.

This is the new reality for Blair and his Iraq war cohorts. They will spend the rest of their lives deciding which countries they may visit and which they may not, dependent on whether or not they may be arrested upon landing in certain foreign country's.

Rumsfeld will now join the international club that includes Pinochet, Sharon and Kissinger.

I fully expect, when Blair stands down, that his name will also join this group of international war criminals.

I was looking for that info yesterday! I saw that announcement on C-span but could not find any links to it. Yep, Blair indeed should not think of vacationing in Germany. He ought to be next, like all the ones on this side of the pond who should join that travesty.
