Iraqis reject US Ishaqi findings

**UPDATE**

In a further signal of the breakdown of relations between the US forces and the new Iraqi government, the Iraqi administration have rejected the findings of a US army investigation into the deaths of eleven Iraqis at Ishaqi, saying that the report - which cleared US forces of any wrongdoing - was wrong and that they intended to demand an apology and compensation.

As I reported this morning, I found the US claims that there had been no foul play quite suspicious as the General did not explain the discrepancy between the soldiers claims and the film discovered by and shown on the BBC.
The video shows a number of dead adults and children at the site with what our world affairs editor John Simpson says were clearly gunshot wounds.
The US forces are not doing themselves any favours by giving such glib responses to what appear to be genuine war crimes in which innocents are being slaughtered.

It is also clear that the new Iraqi government are losing patience with them.
