Bill's obsession with "the far left"
Bill's obsession with "the far left" is amply demonstrated here.
"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness." - John Kenneth Galbraith.

That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another.
The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.

Kel, I think you have a bit of an obsession with O'Reilly (and the right in general). You seem more focused on what this guy has to say than most conservatives do.
I don't think I've seen an episode of his show in, at least, six months. I haven't watched with any regularity for probably two years.
What I find interesting is that you claim he's an independent, yet every single clip I've shown has him constantly attacking the "far left" as he always calls them.
He's a phoney, he's no more "fair and balanced" than I am.
At least I don't pretend to be.
And why are you speaking with such authority on the political leanings of a person you haven't regularly watched for two years?
I've never used the label independent. Nice try. I think is a moderate tending toward rightist.
The reason he goes after the left is simple: they are a much easier target!
O'Reilly doesn't "pretend" to be fair and balanced, as you claim. "Fair and Balanced" is a slogan of the Fox network. O'Reilly has made it clear on many occasions that his show is an analytical show, not a news outlet. He doesn't claim to be an objective reporter but rather an opinionated pundit.
Why am I speaking with such authority? What kind of question is that? I'm only speaking from what I recall. He is still boycotting France according to a recent posting by you, right? It doesn't sound like much has changed in recent years.
I actually liked his show back when it was more difficult to get a gauge on his personal opinions. I thought that was more interesting than his more recent fare. Given his high level of viewership though, I can understand why he chooses the route he does. It works -- people watch his show.
Tommy
What you actually said was "BTW, many conservatives don't consider O'Reilly to be a right-wing individual. I don't think he is a true conservative since I suspect he is probably left-of-center on many social issues (but he is certainly not a liberal either)."
And Fair and balanced may be the channel's motto, but his show is called The No Spin Zone, and he spins an anti-left line every single night.
And I agree that he talks that way because it gets him huge audiences.
Where I have always disagreed with you is that he is left wing on many social issues. I know you say he favours gay adoption but I'm still waiting for a link on that one.
