UN draft on nuclear Iran tabled
The US continues to insist that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapon without producing a scintilla of evidence to back their case.
They are currently trying to push a chapter seven resolution through the United Nations demanding that Iran suspend all uranium enrichment. Chapter seven resolutions carry the threat of war.
Bush said, "The Iranians must understand that we won't fold, that our partnership is strong, that for the sake of world peace, they should abandon their nuclear weapons ambitions."
US Ambassador John Bolton said: "The key to this lies in Iran's hands."
He added: "If they give up the pursuit of nuclear weapons, a lot of things are possible. If they continue to bluster and to threaten and obfuscate and try to throw sand in our eyes, then we're onto a different circumstance."
You'll notice that both Bolton and Bush speak of Iran's desire to obtain a nuclear weapon, and speak as if this is simply a given.
There is so far no proof that Iran is seaking a nuclear weapon. Indeed, Iran say that such a weapon is against the beliefs of Islam.
Bush and Bolton are continuing to present Iran's uranium enrichment, which is their right under the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, as proof that they desire to obtain the nuclear bomb.
As with Iraq, we are being asked to accept the Bush regime's darkest suspicions as if they were facts. And, as with Iraq, we should always remember that the US overall aim is for regime change. The facts are, once again, being fixed around this policy.
