Rummy called out in Atlanta!

There's a wonderful video over at Crooks and Liars that shows Rumsfeld finally being called publicly for the plethora of lies he told prior to the Iraq invasion.

Rummy denies he told a lie. He is then confronted with his statements that he knew where Saddam's WMD were, "Tikrit, Baghdad, northeast, south, west of there."

Rummy now claims that he was listing, "suspected sites." This is, of course, errant nonsense that anyone who paid the slightest attention prior to the invasion would know.

Rummy during that same press conference that the questioner referred to said, "The United States knows that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Any country on the face of the earth with an active intelligence program knows that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction." You'll notice that he doesn't say "suspects" or "thinks", he says "knows".

It's that insistence on knowledge that he obviously didn't have that makes Rumsfeld a liar.

The funniest thing is the reaction of the Republicans when Rummy says he's not a liar. They wildly clap him - as they so desperately want to believe he's telling the truth. You'd swear it was an epiphanal moment for these jerks.

Talk about desperate.
