Uk Media continues hysterical over reporting of Bird Flu

As the first known UK case pops up in Scotland, there isn't a paper you can lift that isn't talking about it. All over the world. The Scotsman, The Telegraph, even Bloomberg.com are carrying the story.

Bird flu, it seems is, all the press want to talk about. Hyped up nonsense that makes for cheap news and easy scare tactics.

Am I alone in finding this highly distasteful?

So far fourteen people have died of the human strain of this flu, for which there is no known cure. And yet over a million people a year die in Africa from Malaria, a disease for which there is a cure, and the west silently watches.

I sometimes wish the media would use their enormous readerships to highlight the places where people need our help and are being denied it, rather than this nonsense about a non-existent danger.
